International Crankshaft Inc (ICI),Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation's (NSSMC) crankshaft forging subsidiary in the USA, received a 2015 Excellence in Value award from American Honda Motor Company. The company received the award for its outstanding contribution to cost competitiveness late last month.

Honda Excellence Awards have three categories: quality, delivery and value. Twenty seven suppliers out of 650 Honda suppliers in North America received an this year, but is the first time that ICI has received one. NSSMC claims that ICI has been 'consistently forging high-quality crankshafts' for 24 years' in Georgetown, Kentucky.

According to NSSMC, ICI’s technology and process innovation earned it the award by contributing to value creation at Honda.

ICI is a part of NSSMC’s global crankshaft forging business network that has a 10% global share in the auto crankshaft market with an annual capacity of 12.3 million crankshafts. The group has forged and sold more than 200 million crankshafts worldwide so far.
