North Shore Steel, a steel service centre near Houston, Texas, USA, has acquired the equipment assets of Houston Blow Pipe, a plate processing business that is over 100 years old.
The acquisition inlcudes four press brakes, one of which is a 3,000-ton press brake with a 27.5in bed, giving North Shore Steel the largest press brake capacity in the Gulf Coast, the company claims.
Several plate rolling machines, welding equipment and forklifts are also included in the deal.
According to North Shore's CEO and president, Buzzy Bluestone, the acquisition is 'the ideal complement' to the company's steel processing capabilities.
North Shore intends to carry on Houston Blow Pipe's tradition of providng 'high quality products and services'.
David Bluestone, North Shore's vice president and third-generation owner, said the acquisition was a great opportunity for the company to offer increased press brake capacity for customers and growth opportunities for employees, not to mention diversifying into new end markets. "We are very excited to grow our business under the third-generation of family and non-family leaders and this strategic acquisition is a great example," he said.
