A meltshop enhancement project in Pakistan has been signed off in the Italian Embassy, Islamabad.

Agha Steel Industries has contracted the Italian steel technology company Danieli to reconstruct its electric arc furnace (EAF) and build a new fume treatment plant.

Pakistan’s only private steelmaker aims to reduce electrical consumption and tap-to-tap time in order to increase productivity at a lower production cost. It hopes to achieve this by modernising the EAF with a top-performing electrode regulator and an integral slag foaming management system. An ISAC integrated scrap automatic charging system will enable Agha Steel to reduce the number of buckets charged in the furnace from three to one. A new chemical package will enable a more efficient utilisation of chemical energy in the EAF.
