WMI Konecranes (India) has won an order to supply a total 21 heavy duty cranes to JSW steel worth Rs580M (US$10.8M).
WMI Konecranes has won an order to supply a total 21 heavy duty cranes to JSW steel worth Rs580M (US$10.8M). WMI Konecranes (Formerly WMI Cranes Ltd) is a 100% subsidiary of Konecranes plc, Finland. Konecranes Plc acquired a 100% stake in WMI Cranes in August 2011 and the name of WMI Cranes was subsequently changed to WMI Konecranes India Ltd.
JSW Steel, the flagship company of the JSW Group, is an integrated steel manufacturer and has grown to become the largest private sector steel manufacturer in India in terms of installed capacity.
The order is one of the largest single orders in terms of number of cranes to be supplied and the total value to the Indian crane industry. WMI Konecranes has supplied more than 4000 cranes to date and is a dominating market leader in steel industry crane market segment. The Company has been a preferred supplier for cranes to JSW Steel right from the inception of their plant.
The cranes are to be used for coil handling in the Cold Rolling Mill at the JSW steel plant Complex at Torranagallu, Hospet District, Karnataka. The cranes will be integrated as part of the state of the art, automated coil yard management system in the Cold Rolling.
This order consist of three 50t capacity cranes, two 50/10t cranes, one 60t crane, two 60/10t cranes, five 35t cranes, seven 35/10t cranes and one 15t crane for maintenance. All the cranes are fully automatic.
The cranes are expected to be delivered to JSW Steel, Torranagallu plant by the end of 2012.
