JFE Steel has placed an order with Primetals Technologies for a new continuous galvanising line (CGL) at the West Japan Works in Fukuyama, Japan.
It is hoped the new line will help JFE Steel meet the rising demand for ultra-high-tensile steel sheets, which are used in the automotive industry, as they are light weight, more environmentally friendly, and enhance collision safety standards.
Primetals will handle the design and manufacturing of all mechanical equipment, as well as advisory services for the installation and commissioning of the new line.
The project includes terminal facilities, an annealing furnace, an alloying furnace, a skin pass mill, a side trimmer and loopers.
Operations are scheduled to begin in October 2028.
JFE Steel is an integrated steelworks offering goods from iron ore to finished products. The company serves a wide-range of industries, including automotive, construction, and construction.
