Jai Raj Steel has achieved record operational performances at its Kurnool plant in India, which has a Danieli-supplied MIDA QLP line.
The plant completed a 27-hour, uninterrupted casting and rolling sequence, operating with a single tundish and 33 heats cast and rolled in endless mode.
During this sequence, a billet with a length of 10,206m was produced with a maximum casting speed of 7.2m/min, exceeding the original design performance.
Danieli highlighted that the results further demonstrate that the MIDA QLP technology has reached a high standard of reliability and experience.
The MIDA line is designed for an annual capacity of 350kt of rebars in bundles, covering diameters from 8mm to 40mm.
The installation is the first MIDA plant in India. The plant configuration includes a blast furnace, with Danieli having supplied the ladle furnace as well as the casting and rolling technology, featuring Direct Rolling and a bundling finishing facility.
