India’s steel output in the 2009/10 financial year that ended in March 2010 was at 59.58Mt, up 4.23% from 57.16Mt produced a year ago, the Minister of State for Steel A. Sai Prathap said.
The growth came on the back of modernisation programmes, especially of the state-run companies, Prathap said. For the current fiscal year, the steel ministry has projected an output of 65Mt.
