Hyundai Steel, South Korea's second-largest steelmaker, has collaborated with start-up company 3I Solution to develop an industrial neutron composition analyzer.

A neutron composition analyzer is a device that analyzes the composition of materials using the unique gamma rays generated when elements react with neutrons. With this analyzer, it is possible to conduct complete inspections during the transfer of materials and apply real-time data generated to enhance production efficiency in the manufacturing process.

According to a report by the Korea Economic Daily, until now, the existing process for analyzing the composition of iron ore and iron scrap took an average of about eight hours from raw material sampling to inspection.

Hyundai Steel is considering the on-site implementation of 3I Solution's neutron composition analyzer in order to secure cost competitiveness. The company also hopes to utilize the device in the analysis of prime iron scrap composition.

"Our company plans to gradually expand the market through the domestic production and commercialization of the neutron composition analyzer.''
