Hydnum Steel, the first steelmaker to produce green steel on the Iberian Peninsula, and Gonvarri Industries, a solutions provider for the metals industry, have signed an agreement which includes the former supplying an amount of green steel worth €1 billion to the Spanish multinational over an initial seven-year period.
Hydnum Steel, which is in the process of building a green steel plant in Puertollano, hopes to become the leading producer of decarbonized steel in Spain. The plant will have production capacity of up to 2.6Mt of flat steel per year.
The agreement between Hydnum and Gonvarri is aimed at promoting the use of green steel in different industries, including construction, energy and the automotive industry, providing high-quality products that meet the strictest environmental standards and positioning Spain as a leader in green steel production in Europe.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed, the companies will collaborate on logistics optimisation to ensure efficient deliveries and develop low-CO2 transport solutions.
