Globe Specialty Metals has bought fellow US company Core Metals Group, LLC.

Core is one of North America’s largest producers and marketers of ferrosilicon and other speciality steel ingredients.

Globe paid $52M in cash for the company, which was owned by the Ospraie Funds. The company, headquartered in Coraopolis, PA, services the steel, chemical and other industrial markets.

Globe said it did not anticipate any disruption or interruption in service to customers. It a producer of silicon metal and silicon-based speciality alloys, critical ingredients in a host of industrial and consumer products with growing markets.

Core is a producer, marketer, and distributor of ferroalloys and materials for the North American steel and foundry industry.
