Fives has signed a contract with Fujian Kunbao New Materials, part of Sanbao Group, to design and supply two strip process lines for electrical steel production in Zhangzhou, China.
Each line will have an annual capacity of 100kt and will utilise advanced strip-processing technologies to deliver the highest-magnetic-performance steels.
Wang Guangwen, Chairman of Sanbao Group, said: "These two lines mark a key initiative in our transformation and upgrading towards the high-end steel market. Upon completion, Sanbao Group will rank among the top-tier producers of high-grade oriented electrical steel in China.
“I am convinced that this partnership is a sound decision. Fives’ cutting-edge technologies in the field of electrical steel will effectively bolster our core competitiveness to expand into the high-end market.”
The project includes the delivery of two complete decarburising and coating lines dedicated to producing grain-oriented electrical steel.
Fives highlighted that the lines will provide advantages such as faster ramp-up, greater environmental sustainability and enhanced safety.
David Jiang, executive deputy managing director, sales at Fives Stein Metallurgical Technology, added: "Producing grain-oriented electrical steels requires highly specialised manufacturing processes and represents a significant capital investment for steelmakers.
“Our process expertise and continuous improvements in furnace technologies enable customers to achieve outstanding performance in strip temperature control, line speed, and atmosphere management.”
