Toussa Steel Factory, a 1.3Mt/y minimill in Ethiopia, is expected to start operations within three years.
The plant consists of a 130t heat size EAF with scrap preheating and continuous charging, a ladle refining furnace, and a six strand billet caster. The rolling mill will have a 950kt/y capacity for bar and wire rod and will feature hot charging and a second 400kt/y mill for light sections.
The works is part of the Saudi based Midroc Group owned by Sheikh Mohammed Hussein.
Danieli will supply the equipment and Danieli Construction build the facility.
