Argentinian steelmaker, Sidersa, has ordered a Danieli MIDA QLP-DUE minimill to be installed in Buenos Aires province.

The minimill will produce 360KT/year of straight bars in bundles and wirerods, processing local scrap into new products.

Danieli highlighted that the minimill’s use of endless charging reduces melting energy requirements as well as minimising the carbon and NOx emissions, ensuring green steel production.

The minimill will implement Danieli-patented technologies such as the Digimelter, Digirefiner and Octocaster.

Danieli will also supply auxiliary equipment such as fume and water treatment plants, as well as the process and auxiliary cranes, servicing the complete plant.

The Sidersa plant will be the first, new, complete minimill built in Argentina in the last 50 years.

Start-up is scheduled in the first half of 2028.
