Butech Bliss of Ohio, USA recently completed the design and building of the largest Hot Strip Mill Crop Shear machine of its type in the world.

The machine was contracted by ArcelorMittal for its Bremen, Germany plant. The machine will cut up to 3inch (75mm) thick by 87inch (2210mm) wide hot steel bars travelling at speeds of 250ft/min (76m/min).

The shear will weigh approximately 1MIbs fully assembled, with its largest single component weighing 100t.

Design and construction of the shear took just over a year to complete and was delivered in November. Butech Bliss designs and manufactures coil processing equipment, rolling mills and extrusion presses.
