British Steel has retained its ‘good’ status in sustainability after an audit by the British Standards Institution. The certification is against the BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing Standard and comes after an audit across British Steel's operations in June.

The BES 6001 certificate covers all steel products manufactured in British Steel’s Scunthorpe, Teesside and Skinningrove sites.

British Steel stated that the audit was demanding and comprehensive, with areas such as material traceability and environmental management systems in their supply chains covered in the process.

The company added that sustainable practices allow British Steel to meet performance targets and the expectations of their customers.
