Blastr Green Steel and Inkoo Shipping have signed a letter of intent for land and harbour development in Inkoo, Finland. According to the letter, Blastr will utilize Inkoo Shipping's land area to ‘further optimize the layout design’ of the planned ultra-low CO₂ steel plant in Inkoo.

The companies will also jointly develop Inkoo Shipping’s harbour to enhance the handling of Blastr's in- and outbound sea cargo.

"Our aim is to optimize the design of our planned ultra-low CO₂ steel plant and integrated hydrogen facility so that we can make the most of the industrial site already levelled, and thus reduce our environmental footprint.''

"Our aim is to optimize the design of our planned ultra-low CO₂ steel plant and integrated hydrogen facility so that we can make the most of the industrial site already levelled, and thus reduce our environmental footprint. The use of the Inkoo Shipping area will allow us to do this, as well as streamline logistics within and outside the steel plant site," said Antti Kaikkonen, managing director of Blastr Green Steel Oy.

As part of the co-operation, the parties will develop a new quay within the Port of Inkoo, with its size to be defined during the ongoing technical pre-feasibility study. The study will also determine the most suitable locations for a raw material terminal, an end-product terminal, and other new functionalities required for the future of the port.

"The construction of the new quay will have a significant impact on Inkoo Shipping and the entire region.''

Thomas Bergman, managing director of Inkoo Shipping Oy Ab
