Pomini Tenova, a brand of Tenova, which is part of the Techint Group, has been chosen by Chinese steel giant, China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited (Baowu) to supply and install new and fully automatic roll shop equipment.
During an on-site signing ceremony on 8 November, Tenova signed two contracts for steel manufacturing plants during the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.
The signing ceremony was organized by Baowu and included the participation of Zhang Qing, chairman of OBEI Co., Ltd. (the Industrial Products Purchasing Company of Baowu), and Paolo Gaboardi, executive vice president Pomini Tenova, a well-known Tenova brand and worldwide leader in the production of advanced roll shop equipment.
The first contract includes a set of four automatic CNC roll grinders with two automatic inspection stations, served by an automatic roll loading system with two loaders. These will be installed at a plant where two new cold rolling mills for silicon steel will be in operation.

The scope of the second contract includes two automatic CNC roll grinders and an automatic inspection station, equipped with an automatic roll loading system, which will be installed in the roll shop of a new cold rolling mill for silicon steel production.
According to Pomini Tenova, both roll shops are designed with advanced automation concepts being as all the operations are secured in a segregated area where no human intervention is required. The company claims that rolls are produced swiftly and with the highest safety, quality, and efficiency in order to minimise production costs. All processes, it is claimed, are digitally monitored through Pomini Tenova's condition monitoring system.
