ArcelorMittal Vega has signed a contract for the revamping of a pickling line coupled with a tandem rolling mill at the Vega factory in Brazil.

It agreed a 10 month contract with CMI Industry for the modernisation of its entry section for a tandem rolling mill coupled with a pickling line (PLTCM).

The PLTCM is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2010 after the contract was signed in January. The modernisation of the entry section consists of mechanical, electrical and automating equipment along with assembly and commissioning services.

The work to be carried out by CMI Industry on the PLTCM will enable its capacity to be increased by 36%, from 1Mt to 1.2Mt/y of steel, used mainly for the automotive industry.

CMI Industry is the division of the CMI Group specialising in process equipment. In steelmaking, CMI Industry supplies solutions for cold rolling complexes.
