ArcelorMittal and EDF have signed a long-term Nuclear Power Production Allocation Contract for ArcelorMittal’s sites in France.
Under the agreement, EDF will allocate a share of the capacity of its operating nuclear fleet for a period of 18 years, securing ArcelorMittal with a long-term supply of low-carbon electricity.
Reiner Blaschek, CEO of ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, said: “We welcome the signing of this Nuclear Power Production Allocation Contract with EDF.
“This agreement will enable us to supply our French sites over the long term with low-carbon electricity, a key factor for the future competitiveness of our steel produced in France.”
The latest agreement builds on a letter of intent signed between the two in 2024.
Béatrice Bigois, executive director in charge of the Customers, Services, and Territories Division at EDF Group, added: “This nuclear power production allocation contract illustrates the commitment of EDF teams over the past several months to provide industrial players with low-carbon, competitive electricity available over the long term.
“By supporting ArcelorMittal, a key player in steel production, we are contributing to the decarbonisation of industry and to energy sovereignty.”
The first deliveries began on 1 January 2026.
