Alleima introduces Freeflex® Versa compressor valve steel

Swedish steelmaker Alleima has announced its latest compressor valve steel called Freeflex® Versa, a successor to its award-winning Freeflex® Core. According to the company, the new material contributes to designing smaller, more sustainable and more energy efficient compressors for refrigerators and freezers. “It is pioneering compressor valve steel with exceptional fatigue resistance, residual stresses, and wear resistance,” it is claimed.

Hydnum Steel, the first green steel mill in Spain and one of the first to be built in Europe, has obtained the declaration of a 'Priority Project' by the government of Castile-La Mancha, enabling the future plant - which will produce zero-emission steel from renewable energy and green hydrogen - to make significant progress towards its goal of becoming an international reference project in the decarbonization of the steel industry.
