Chinese steel producer Changzhou Zhongtian Iron & Steel (Zenith Steel) has installed a continuous bloom caster, bringing the plant’s annual production capacity to around 1.3Mt of blooms.
Supplied by Siemens Metals Technologies, until now Zenith has only produced billets, but will now be able to produce blooms with diameters of 360mm, 400mm, 500mm and 600mm. Those with a diameter of 600mm are used to produce forging steels, while the rest are are further processed into seamless pipes.
