World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 156.7Mt in April 2019, up 6.4% when compared to April last year.

China’s crude steel production for April 2019 was 85Mt, an increase of 12.7% while India produced 8.8Mt of crude steel in April 2019, up 1.5%. Japan produced 8.6Mt in April 2019, down 0.8% on last year, while South Korea’s crude steel production stood at 6Mt, up 1.4% on April 2018.

Italy’s crude steel production for April 2019 was 2Mt, down 5.7% on last year's figure. France produced 1.3Mt, a decrease of 8.1%, and Spain produced 1.3Mt down by 4.4% on April 2018.

The USA produced 7.4 Mt of crude steel in April 2019, an increase of 7.3% on April 2018.

In Ukraine 1.9 Mt of crude steel was produced in April 2019, up 12.6% on last year's figure.

Brazil’s crude steel production was 2.9 Mt in April 2019, down 1.9% on last year.

Turkey’s crude steel production for April 2019 was up 2.6% at 3Mt when compared with April 2018 figures.
