World crude steel production is up 1.7% for the month of July when compared to July 2018, according to the latest figures released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
The figures are compiled based on data supplied by the 64 countries reporting to worldsteel and show that crude steel production in China for July 2019 was up 5% on last year's figure at 85.2Mt. India's figure was 9.2Mt, up 1.7% and Japan produced 8.4Mt, down 0.4% when compared with the July 2018 data.
The South Koreans produced 6Mt, down 2.1% on last year.
In the USA there was an increase of 1.8% over last year with American mills producing 7.5Mt in July. Meanwhile, Brazil's crude steel production was down 20.7% at 2.4Mt and Turkey was down 10.6% at 2.9Mt.
Ukrainian steel production was just 1.8Mt, down 1.7%
