Blast Furnace (BF) No 2 and five hot blast stoves are to be modernised at state-owned Indian Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (Vizag Steel) in India.
The interior volume of the furnace will be boosted from 3200 to 3820m3. This will increase production capacity to 7150t per day.
Moreover, five hot blast stoves will be upgraded on blast furnaces 1 and 2 to bring them in line with state-of-art technology.
The work has been awarded to Siemens VAI MT and is valued at around €50M. A major portion of the work will be completed by Siemens India. The work on BF No 2 is to be completed in the third quarter of 2015, while modernisation of the hot blast stoves will be concluded in 2016.
