In June 2017, US steel mills shipped 7.7Mt (net tons), up 1% from the 7.6Mt (net tons) shipped in May 2017, and 1.4% up from the 7.62Mt (net tons) shipped in June 2016. Shipments year-to-date in 2017 total 45.4Mt (net tons), a 3% increase compared with 2016 shipments of 44.1Mt (net tons) for six months.
A comparison of June shipments to the previous month of May shows hot dipped galvanised sheets and strip, up 1%, hot rolled sheets, no change, and cold rolled sheets, down 4%.
