Italian plant builder Tenova, a Techint Group company, recently received the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) from Pomina Flat Steel, a subsidiary of the Pomina Steel Group, for its cold mill complex (CMC) in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, a province of Vietnam.Pomina Flat Steel
The Pomina CMC plant project began in 2017 and includes the following Tenova equipment: push pull pickling line and acid regeneraton plant, 6Hi cold rolling mill, continuous galvanising line and colour coating line as well as roll grinding equipment. The new CMC will produce high quality cold rolled steel coils, galvanised steel coils, galvalume steel coils, pre-painted galvanised steel coils and pre-painted galvalume steel coils.
“The final acceptance certificate is not only a success for Tenova but also for Pomina," said Nicola Cavero, senior vice president of Tenova Italimpianti. Cavero said that the plant can now produce higher quality steel for domestic and foreign markets with reliable and state-of-the-art technologies. “With the current market uncertainty and trade tension, the production of high value steel could be the possible solution in the export market for our customer,” Cavero added.
According to Tenova, the technology provided to Pomina is also the most state-of-the-art in terms of sustainability: the acid regeneration plant recovers the hydrochloric acid used in the pickling lines, and all the other processes are optimised to reduce energy consumption and augment the whole process in compliance with environmental regulations.
Pomina Group (former Thep Viet) started its collaboration with Tenova almost 15 years ago, with an initial contract for a Consteel EAF, ladle furnace and continuous caster. This contract was followed by another Consteel EAF installation and, most recently, a contract for a new flexible modular furnace.
