Jiexiu Xintai Iron & Steel Co Ltd from Jiexiu, Shanxi Province, has commissioned its section mill for steel beams supplied by SMS Meer, Germany. The mill will be used to roll beams in the size range from 200 to 1000mm. The plant has an annual capacity of 1.2Mt.
The heavy beam mill is equipped with universal roll stands of CCS® (Compact Cartridge Stand) design. The hydraulic roll adjustment control and the rigid stand construction allow the final dimensions to be rolled with close tolerances. The nine-roller CRS® straightener with its rollers mounted in bearings on both sides, hydraulic roller adjustment and automatic straightening roller changing stands for high flexibility and straightening quality with minimum residual stresses. The rolled stock is cut into finished lengths by cold saws so that low cutting costs are incurred. Even the first four double-T beams rolled of 400 x 400mm were within the specified tolerances.
The mill employs the XH® universal beam rolling principle developed by SMS Meer. This process allows particularly large beams to be rolled with close tolerances. That increases the quality of the products from Jiexiu Xintai. In the meantime this technology is in use in 16 plants.
The plant at Jiexiu Xintai is the ninth section mill to be supplied to China by SMS Meer.
