The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has voted on the final phase of anti-umping and countervailing duty investigations of hot-rolled flat products from Australia, Brazil, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
The ITC issued affirmative determinations in the vast majority of the cases, but rejected antidumping duties against hot-rolled steel from Turkey. Countervailing duties against Turkey, however, were affirmed.
Following the vote, Steel Manufacturers Association president Philip K. Bell issued the following statement.
“This was an extremely important determination due to the tonnage involved and the impact that hot-rolled steel imports have had on the domestic steel industry and its workforce. I am pleased with the ITC’s decision to affirm the vast majority of the duties. I believe these determinations will play an important role in leveling the playing field and restoring balance to the market, especially when combined with other recent trade case decisions.”
