Severstal North America, part of OAO Severstal, the international steel and mining company, has joined two reputable sustainability organisations.
The company has joined United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI) with the aim of taking its existing purchasing practices to the next level, according to Gerrit Reepmeyer, the company’s vice president of procurement.
Severstal will focus upon three areas: safe and healthy working conditions; high environmental standards; and strong business ethics.
