A recent news report from The Northern Echo in the UK claims that steelworkers at Tata Steel in the North East of England will be getting a 2% pay rise with a further 1.5%.
The rise will cover workers at Tata’s long products division including a beam mill at Teesside and a special profiles plant in East Cleveland, not forgetting a York-based rail consultancy and distribution sites in Teesside and Newcastle.
Last year it was announced that the US industrialist Gary Klesch had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tata with a view to buying the long products division. Talks about the acquisition are still ongoing.
