A report in the Charlotte Business Journal details how US steelmaker Nucor Corporation is planning a US$240 million expansion of its plant in Arkansas.

The proposed galvanised steel sheet metal line will be the second major expansion announced by the USA's leading steelmaker over the last two years. In September 2016 plans were announced for a US$230 million cold mill at the same plant and it's due for completion this year.

In fact, since 2016, Nucor has announced in the region of US$2.7 billion of acquisitions, new construction and plant expansions, including a JV with Japan's JFE Steel Corporation in Mexico, which is now under construction.

Nucor is planning further expansions.
