World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 116Mt – a rise of 1.1% from November 2010.

China’s crude steel production for November 2011 was 49.9Mt, a slight decrease of 0.2% compared to November 2010.

Japan produced 8.7Mt of steel in November 2011, a decrease of 3.2% compared to the same month last year.

South Korea’s crude steel production for November 2011 was 5.8Mt, up 12.4% from the same month last year.

Germany’s crude steel production for November 2011 was 3.5Mt, a decrease of 10.0% on November 2010. Italy produced 2.6Mt of crude steel, which was 12.3% higher than November 2010.

Turkey produced 2.8Mt in November 2011, 12.8% higher than November 2010.

The US produced 7.2Mt, up 11.8% compared to November 2010.

Brazilian crude steel production for November 2011 was 2.7Mt, 3.7% higher than November 2010.

The world crude steel capacity utilisation ratio of the 64 countries in November 2011 declined to 73.4%, 2.8 percentage points down from October 2011.

This is its lowest point for two years. Compared to November 2010, the utilisation ratio in November 2011 decreased by 2.6 percentage points.
