Russian steelmaker NLMK Group, the largest steelmaker in Russia and one of the most efficient in the world, has been named a Gold Winner of the Step Two Intranet and Digital Workplace Awards 2021. The company received the accolade for developing a mobile app for its employees that boosts the efficiency of intra-corporate communications and the usability of corporate services for staff.
The mobile app is integrated with NLMK’s corporate intranet portal and offers employees access to all the required services, including the news feed, vacation request management and submitting applications to the ‘Bank of Ideas’, placing requests for PPE, and instant registration of safety violations, among others. The functionality of the app is constantly upgraded to add new services based on analyzing employee requests.
The competition judges, says NLMK, appreciated the focus on the internal customer and on enabling an environment for timely and user-friendly access to automated services. In terms of the app’s functionality, the judges emphasized such innovation solutions as the mobile pass and video registration of production safety violations.
The app was launched in March 2020 and has already been downloaded by approximately 30,000 people (60% of NLMK Group employees).
