Russian steelmaker NLMK Group has completed an upgrade of its continuous wide-strip hot-rolling Mill 2000. It now has a capacity of 5.7Mt/yr of rolled steel.
The upgrade, claims the company, is part of Strategy 2017, which is all about increasing operational efficiency according to Konstantin Lagutin, NLMK Group’s vice president for investment projects.
“The financial benefits of the project are the result of increasing product quality; enhancing productivity and reducing maintenance costs,” said Lagutin.
Mill 2000 at Lipetsk produces a wide range of steels from standard grade to electrical steel with thicknesses varying from 1.5mm and 16mm and widths up to 1850mm.
