HF1050 is a new advanced high strength steel from ArcelorMittal following investment by the steel giant of US$270m in research and development.

The new product, developed at ArcelorMittal’s Maizieres-les-Metz campus in France, is described as a ‘third generation advanced high strength steel for cold stamping’.

According to ArcelorMittal, there are some 60 new products under development at the Maizieres-les-Metz facility.

The first vehicles using the new steel product will be on the road in 2016.
