It has been reported that American steel giant US Steel Corporation has laid off 38 workers at its Gary Works plant in Indiana.
Maintenance staffers were escorted out of the plant, according to an online report by the Chicago Sun Times.
The company laid off around 750 managers, supervisors and other workers in April and 1,000 workers in North Western Indiana the year before.
According to Mike Millsap, director of the United Steelworkers District 7, the union will fight the layoffs first by approaching company managers and then by appealing to an independent arbiter.
