Dr Kent D Peaslee, the F Kenneth Iverson Chair of Steelmaking Technology and Curators’ Teaching Professor of metallurgical engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, died suddenly on May 17 at age 56.
Dr Peaslee served as president of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology 2012-13 retiring from the post to become one of two vice presidents at the recent annual meeting of AISTech held in Pittsburgh just one week before his death.
Before joining the faculty at Missouri S&T, Peaslee worked 13 years in the steel industry. His research interests spanned waste and metals recycling, steelmaking, inclusion engineering, continuous casting, steel manufacturing energy optimization, metal-refractory interactions, and environmental aspects of metals manufacturing.
