India’s largest manufacturer of stainless steel intends to grow its footprint in the Indian kitchenware industry.
“We have led the kitchenware industry with the introduction of the 200 series in the late 70’s and now we intend to further transform the industry through the coil route,” said Vijay Sharma, head of sales at Jindal Stainless, speaking at a media kitchenware event organised by the company.
Mr Sharma said that the company’s plan was to raise overall quality standards of and reach out to retail customers with branded products. He said the intention was to boost sector productivity through automation.
“We are in the process of installing infrastructure and will have dedicated capacities to meet enhanced quality and quantity requirements,” he said, adding that Jindal intends to triple its share of the kitchenware market over the next two years.
The Indian kitchenware industry is growing at a rate of 6-7% and is expected to grow further. The Indian stainless steel flat products market is growing at a steady rate of 9-10%.
