The Indian state task force on steel has approved eight new proposals worth a total of INR 100.53bn (US$1.7bn), including one steel plant and numerous pelletisation projects.

The proposal for the new steel plant is from Kalinga Steel Tech Pvt Ltd, and is for a 1.2Mt/y integrated steel plant in the Sundargarh district of India.

As for the remaining pelletisation projects, the largest investment proposal is from Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, who are proposing a 5Mt/y iron ore pellet plant in the Keonjhar district. All plans are awaiting final approval from the State Authority, who assess projects with investments worth up to INR10bn ($184.6M)
