World crude steel production for November 2018 totalled 148.6Mt, up 1.1% on November 2017 figures, according to figures released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
The figures, which are based on data received from the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association, show that China's crude steel production for November 2018 was up 10.8% at 77.6Mt when compared with the previous year's figure. Japan produced 8.7Mt, down 0.5% and in South Korea 5.9Mt of crude steel was produced, an increase of 1.1%.
In the European Union, France increased production by an impressive 12.8% in November 2018 with 1.4Mt of steel, while the Italians' 2.2Mt represented a 1% decrease in production. The Spanish produced 1.3Mt, a decrease of 0.7% when compared with November 2017.
In Latin America, Brazil produced 2.8Mt of crude steel, down 6.1% on November 2017.
In Turkey, crude steel production for November 2018 was 3.1Mt, down 2.1%.
Crude steel production in the Ukraine was 1.7Mt in November 2018, down 11.2%.
In the USA, crude steel production in November 2018 reached 7.4Mt, an increase of 11.8% when compared with the previous year.
