Former Tata Steel senior executive Michael Horan has been appointed managing director of Liberty Performance Steels. as Liberty House Group continues its ambitious growth plans with a series of high ranking appointments across its rapidly expanding UK operations.

Mr Horan has had an extensive career in the steel industry spanning 25 years and joins Liberty from Tata Steel Europe, where he held senior executive roles within sales, distribution and strip processing in the UK and Europe.

Most recently, he was head of digital for Tata Steel Europe, where he was responsible for developing and implementing all e-selling, e-marketing and e-service strategies across European operations.

Prior to this he ran strip and long products services through the UK for Tata Steel Distribution and then joined Tata’s European Service Centre division working across the Nordics in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

He completed his MBA in Engineering at Sheffield Business School in 2015 and served as vice president of the National Association of Steel Service Centres for five years up to 2015.
