In line with one of its key objectives – helping steel and non-ferrous manufacturers enhance their performance and competitiveness – Fives Stein, a leading French designer and supplier of thermal solutions for steel, has been awarded a furnace contract by Indian-based Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL).

According to Fives Stein, the reheat furnace will be unique inasmuch as it will burn 100%blast furnace gas as fuel through a system of regenerative burners. Furthermore, it will be equipped with a back-up system for combustion firing fuel oil to run the furnace when blast furnace gas is not available.

JSPL, headed by Naveen Jindal, is one of India's major steel producers and has significant presence in mining, power generation and infrastructure. According to Fives, JSPL "produces economical and efficient steel and power through backward and forward integration" and offers a range of products from wide flat-rolled steel to a variety of long products.

The furnace will be commissioned in June 2015 and, claims Fives Stein, will enable JSPL to better address it's market with low NOx emissions, reduced operational expenses and "the highest possible quality of steel."
