Swedish steel producer Ovako Sweden AB has contracted Ferretti Construction with the revamping of its hot rolling mill foundations, at its plant located in Hällefors, Örebro County.
Ovako Sweden AB is a European manufacturer of engineering steel for customers in the bearing, transportation and manufacturing industries. Since 2018, Ovako has been owned by Nippon Steel Corporation. The production is based on recycled scrap and includes steel in the form of bar, tube, ring and pre-components.
The supplier of the plants new equipment is POMINI Long Rolling Mills, with the main project scope being the partial replacement of the existing roughing train, with four housing-less RedRing series 5 stands arranged in horizontal/vertical configuration, complete with gear reducing units, and new shearing equipment.
The foundations will be revamped using Ferretti Constructions technology, enabling the project to be completed within 10 days as a result of pre-assembled blocks.
The revamp is scheduled to take place in July 2023, following Ferretti Construction’s installation of a New WESP (Wet ElectroStatic Precipitators) Vessel in Aspabruk, Sweden, in partnership with technological supplier AWS Corporation Srl.
