A new laying head technology for bar mills recently developed by Siemens Metals Technologies extends pipe life to record levels in long product rolling mills running at speeds of up to 100m/s.
Thanks to the use of a proprietary material, up to 130kt of rod can be rolled without pipe changes, resulting in fewer production interruptions.
