Italian plant builder Danieli has been very busy of late with almost daily announcements on its website heralding a new contract with a steelmaker.
The company recently agreed to upgrade a Steckel mill at Nanjing Iron & Steel and has been taken on by Nucor Corporation to supply new equipment for a plate steel mill complex in Brandenburg, Kentucky, USA. Danieli was selected by Russian steelmaker Metalloinvest to upgrade the top charging system of blast furnace number three at its Ural Steel facility in Novotroitsk.
Other contracts on the go include the provision of a new Q-One digital power system installed at a meltshop for special steel at ABS Sisak in Croatia, and a tube roller hearth annealing furnace at Tenaris Tamsa in Veracruz in Mexico, part of one of the world’s largest manufacturers of steel pipe for the energy and automotive industries.
Sticking with Mexico, Danieli has been taken on by Ternium Pesqueria to supply advanced material flow technology in the shape of an inventory management system and fully automatic handling equipment that will feed 4.1Mt/yr of slabs to a greenfield hot-strip mill in Pesqueria, also in Mexico. The contract includes the supply of a Slab Yard Management System, which calculates the task for all operating equipment according to the forecast production mix submitted by the plant MES.
In order to expand production of high performance steel strip, Danieli was contracted by Walzholz in Germany to erect a new cold rolling mill with electrics and automation supplied by Danieli Automation. The project was led by Danieli Frohling.
