China’s crude steel output in August rose 14% from a year ago to 58.75Mt, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The August output was 0.9% down from the previous month. During the January-August period, the country’s crude steel output totalled 469.28Mt up 11% on the year previous.
Output of pig iron rose 13% from a year ago to 53.95Mt in the month of August, while the January- August output totalled 433.83Mt, up 10% on the same period 2010.
Output of iron ore within China rose 30% in August compared to August 2010 reaching 127.55Mt. During the January-August period, the country’s iron ore output totalled 818.93Mt, up 23% on the same period 2010.
