Steel production at SSAB's Oxelösund plant in Sweden will restart one and a half weeks later than scheduled due to a breakdown at the rolling mill a planned maintenance outage.

The Nordic and USA-based steelmaker earlier announced that the annual planned maintenance outage at SSAB Special Steels took place during the fourth quarter. "A production breakdown has occured in the rolling mill in conjunction with the restart of production after the planned outage," the company claimed.

The net result is a production and delivery loss of around 25Mt in addition to the loss arising from the planned outage. This, claims SSAB, will impact SSAB Special Steels' result in both Q4 2016 and Q1 2017.
