ArcelorMittal, the world’s biggest steelmaker, has received a best supplier award from its automotive customer PSA Group. The award in question is for technical cost savings.
According to the steel giant, this is the second year in a row that it has won a best supplier award from the PSA Group. In 2015 ArcelorMittal won in the value creation category.
Yannick Bézard, PSA Group’s executive vice president for purchasing, said that ArcelorMittal was involved in all PSA Group projects focused on enhancing competitiveness – from innovation to serial production. He said that the steel giant was working on weight and cost savings, and finding the best material solution for each vehicle.
“The best example of this is the systematic review of the car’s body structure, which we undertake in the very early stage of all our new projects,” Bézard said.
It goes without saying that ArcelorMittal’s Philippe Aubron, CEO of Automotive Europe, was delighted to win an award for two years running. “This clearly demonstrates our customer’s continued faith in our ability to enhance their competitiveness and create value," he said.
