Aussie steelmaker plans major US mill expansion

Australia’s largest steelmaker, Bluescope, has signalled its preparedness to invest $1 billion expanding its North Star steel mill in Ohio.

According to an online report, the company’s CEO Mark Vassella said that a final decision will be made during H2 2019-20.

Vassella said that North America was providing far more growth opportunities than Australia. H1 2018-19 profits at Bluescope's North Star steel mill in Ohio reached $412, up from £145 million the previous year.
