India has inaugurated its first ever continuous annealing and processing line for manufacturing automotive grade continuous annealed products.

The company behind the new processing line – Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing and Processing Company Private Ltd (JCAPCPL) – is a joint venture between Nippon Steel Corporation & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) and Tata Steel.

Located in Jamshedpur in the Indian state of Jharkhand, the new facility is capable of producing 600kt of high quality cold-rolled sheet.

Tata Steel developed the infrastructure for the plant while NSSMC provided the equipment and state-of-the-art technology.

JCAPCPL will source steel from Tata Steel.
